Prices are calculated on the pounds of nuts delivered to MnM's NutHouse for processing. In the processing of these nuts there is a considerable weight reduction through each of the successive steps.

The following example will make you aware of this reduction. 100 pounds of Macadamia nuts including the green husks after husking will weigh....50 pounds.   This 50 pounds when dried will weigh ... 40 pounds.
This 40 pounds of dried nuts cracked and sorted will possibly may weigh 14 pounds or less. This is assuming a 35% recovery rate. Various varieties grown in the region can have a recovery rate of as little as 10% to as much as 45%, but overall averages are in the 20% to 30%. Add to this customer handling and poor collection practices and you may have much less recovery.
